Joe had a huge impact and was the reason why Barbara, early on at the age of 10, wanted to pursue a career in special education. Barbara’s credentials/licenses include: Learning Behavior Specialist 1: Pre-Kindergarten through Age 21; Learning Disabilities: Pre-Kindergarten through Age 21; Secondary Education Grade 6 through Grade 12; Reading Specialist: Kindergarten through Grade 12. Barbara has her B.S.Ed. in Special Education and her M.A. in Reading Specialist Additionally, Barbara has taught in higher education for numerous years at Saint Xavier University School of Education and has travelled around the U.S. conducting staff developments in education for IRI Skylight, Simon and Schuster, and Pearson Education.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Sojourn TRC provides services to students who are at risk and have behavioral issues that prevent them from experiencing success in the classroom. Sojourn TRC’s Equine Assisted Learning in Education (EAL-E) program offers support to students who have challenging IEP goals through a Life Skills curriculum that has been designed to re-engage students back into the academic process. Additionally, Life Skills classes are designed, utilizing the ranch and horses, to support Common Core Standards. Equine Assisted Learning in Education has a remarkable impact on human growth and development for children who struggle with negative behaviors, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, and challenges with cultivating positive relationships with others. The EAL-E Life Skills curriculum provides students with a program that is innovative and effective.</image:caption>

The movement of the horse activates a variety of sensory imputs including: vestibular, proprioceptive, tactile, visual, auditory, and olfactory! Horseback riding helps with balance, strength, postural control, speech/communication and cognition.
